Are University jobs the best?
You might have heard about the problems of the public schools and hogwons such as awful employers, co-teachers and working circumstances. The pay may not be high at a university but you avoid problems mentioned above. The university positions are considered to be the best. If you try to get the opinion of a university teacher on this topic, you won’t find them (as with the 5 months paid vacation each year); they would be enjoying their holidays. There are very less hassles at most universities.
The Korean universities are wising up.
However, it is not a five-month vacation, but a pay that is pro-rated over the year. You might teach for 350 hours each semester and make a honest overall hourly rate for it, but not unnecessary if you consider that the university requires an MA. Nevertheless, you will find university teachers happy with their long vacations or traveling.
