dance.jpgWestern Arts have flourished in Korea, but her unique Art form is still pure and pleasant with a good blend to modern genres. Korean’s are a talented group with ideas and a good sense of creativity. The artistic way in which Korean’s express their talents are mainly through music, dance, painting, handicrafts, ceramics and sculptures and so on.

Music: Korean music has a triple rhythm. Gugak is a traditional Korean music which shares cultural background with China and Japan. Gugak can be divided into two types: Jeongak and Minsogak. Jeongak has intellectual emphasis and Minsogak , which is full of emotional expression.

Dance: Korea’s traditional dance is classified into court dances and folk dances. Court dances reflect the beauty of moderation and dimensions of discipline, grandeur and elegance; where as folk dance reflects the emotion of people.

Paintings: Korean traditional painting is unique due to the Oriental lines and colors that are rarely found in orthodox Western painting. Handicrafts and ceramics made great development following the introduction of Buddhism to Korea.When Buddhism blossomed, the arts flourished particularly Buddhist painting and sculpture.

Sports: Koreans are enthusiasts in sport as well. There are abundant sporting facilities all over the country. Koreans love to take part and prove their mettle in local and international sporting events. They have world class players in Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Bicycling, Billiards, Bowling, Camping, Cricket, Darts, Fishing, Gambling, Golf Horse Racing, Skiing (snow and water), Soccer, Scuba/Skin Diving and so on.

Martial arts: Martial arts have existed in Korea since the earliest ages.Taekwondo is a martial art and fight sport originating in Korea where Tae- means kick or smash with the feet, Kwan- means to punch or strike with the hand, and Do- means the art or way of Taekwondo competition typically involves sparring, breaking, patterns, and self-defense.
Korea’s are good at many other things, but they have proved their talents in the above mentioned art forms. A hardworking group of people with a mission and a vision to achieve more, which is Korean’s in a phrase to say.
