Incheon, an international oceanic city, represented by the image of waves. The official mark of Asian Games is integrated into the image of the sun. The waves and the sun are enhanced for the publicity of the hosting city. The green field symbolizes the free style for finishing the design in a modern style. The emblem was produced with the dynamic image of waves in the stable harmony of three primary colors to represent the image of harmony of Asian Games.
The design was formed with the focus of strengthening the harmony between the different teams participating in the Asian Games.
Incheon has formerly hosted the Korea and Japan World Cup. The games that the event included were Incheon International Marathon and Korea Open International Badminton Championship, Incheon Grand Prix International Fencing Championship, Asia Women’s Softball Championship, Incheon International Women’s Challenger Tennis Champion, Junior Tennis Championship, and Asian Youth Baseball Championship etc. Incheon has proved its ability to host 2014 Asian Games successfully by hosting Asian Athletic Championships.
Incheon personally believes that the international sports event can mark a great turning point by assisting the city’s development. They have received some positive responses from OCA member countries as Korea’s are successful in hosting the international sports events from their past which is of great strength.
Korea’s third-largest city, Incheon won the bid to host the 17th Asian Games in 2014. Korea’s strength of hosting Olympic Games lies in the following criteria’s.
• Korean’s are strong in all kinds of sports.
• Incheon is a place where there is excellent airport accessibility.
• Support and co-operation from North Korea gives things an added advantage.
As part of this event urban transportation and communication infrastructure would be built further more. Sports facilities would be taken care of by the states funds. The city also will be offering free flights and accommodations to all participants as part of the winning in the hosting. Incheon will be building sports parks, eco park and a public golf course behind the athletes’ village, changing the entire landscape of the city. This will be added as being selected as the host city, which will inturn help the port city’s efforts to become a free trade zone and a Northeast Asian business hub.
Incheon hopes to transfer itself into a Northeast Asian hub with receiving the higher international recognition and attracting increased foreign investment associated with hosting the sports event.
Incheon is expected to be a training site for both the Beijing Olympic Games next year and the 2010 Asian Games to be held in Guangzhou. The city’s bidding committee will raise international publicity by launching an extensive promotional campaign during the event.
