as a korean girl who are reading this,
i have to say that i got quite upset while reading that
foriegners teaching english here get paid quite well
i never knew that

i used to go to english hakwon
and there were plenty of english teachers from england, austrailia, united states..etc
and what i concluded is they dont teach english AT ALL
they just try to play games during class
or show us a movie or joking all along
kind of like that

i got really bad impressions from them and now i knew that they got paid well!!
whoa
but there's news for forigners living in korea
goverment has recently passed a law
that they will fire some english teachers here because of the job problem
as far as i remember .,like 40 percent of them will get fired

it's like good news for me who really hates lazy forigners here who dont do any thing but make some money

and there are some things that i like to fix about what you wrote

korean girls do like white guys in general!
and they would love to date you AS FAR AS you r goodlooking
i think its just a matter of who you are
NOT your nationality
but therers a BIG problem and that is ,in my case, there is no one except me
who can speak english i mean at least who can have some basic conversation in english
so the biggest problem is language i guess

and what i found here is that the point of asthetic beauty seems kinda different from what we think and what westerners think

korean girls generally dont like musclar body
i guess they like thin skinny bodied guy who has white skin and blonde hair
and it's even more awesome if you have blue eyes
like european kind of a guy
they wont like tanned skin guy like taylor laugtner

and about the culture thing
in my opinion ,now here is very westernized and so many things have changed since 1980
so i dont find really any big difference between american culture like pop music or tv program from here
and girls here are NEVER submissive
i really hope you guys know this fact before you come here

and FYI
british or austrailian are less likely to be hired here compared to americans or canadian
because we prefer north american accent
and it's sad thing but this applied to black too
there are some stereotypes about them among middle aged people
not young koreans but they are the employers..

anyways....... you kinda seem like understand korean culture quite well
this was interesting article for me

Oh Puh-leeeeeze! You don't know shit. What you described is only so minute.

Walking around with a cowboy hat?!?! People think you're a fool. They would think this in any part of the world... even in the states. Sure people talk to you - they think you're a clown and are laughing at you, not with you. No high calibered and quality woman would ever take some clown in a cowboy hat and a hangul-scribbled T-shirt seriously. Get off your high horse and stop talking like you're some Italian stallion. You don't know jack.

this article mightve been relevant like ten years ago.

im a white military translator in my early 20s so my situation is naturally different from the average foreigner experience, but the average post-80s korean woman is so (relatively) westernized in thinking that there is practically no barrier outside of language and your/her own shortcomings. most of them are aware that the mind games they play with \"their own men\" do not work on the typical americans, and just like in any western nation, any korean girl worth her salt wont sit there and make you feel dumb/like you have to try harder if she likes you. im not going to pull the racist card on you or anything, but you have to understand this generation has grown up watching sex and the city with subtitles and have seen plenty of foreigners in seoul by now.

Korean women are as easy as you make it out to be, just like the rest of the world. if you are looking for sex, its really not that hard, because there are plenty of korean women, in this generation, looking for sex as well. if you are looking for relationships, you just have to present yourself as an attractive, dependable man, just as in any other culture.

i still stick by my belief that modern koreans, from language to entertainment to pastimes, are the most similar to Americans out of any Asian culture, and as such, there really isnt that much trouble finding korean friends. its just a matter of owning confidence. no korean girl will put you through a BS psychological test or give you hell for being yourself unless she is a bad apple.

the only major point i will agree with the article on is the looks: ive had it happen to countless friends, who are also fellow military translators (our haircuts dont help :P), as well as myself. she is being silently judged, and so are you. younger korean men are generally starting to warm up to the concept (not to mention the fact that korean men are starting to become worldwide attraction symbols via kpop :P), and because most of them generally have positive experiences working with young americans during their mandatory military service, they realize youre not just a wide eyed robot come to steal their women.

at the end of the day, my largest piece of advice: never hit on someone on the subway. ive seen it happen, theyre just trying to sleep or study :P and it puts them on the spot in front of all the other passengers. also, personally, i think t-shirts with korean on them is tacky, and it probably drives away 9 women for every 1 that talks to you, because they see it as tacky and an obvious \"oh look another foreigner trying to get my attention\" attempt.

tl;dr: be natural

Time has changed, and so is the country. Christianinty has swept across the country. As for women, you guys still have alot to learn about the opposite sex. Be yourself, and expect anything...go out and enjoy the country and learn the culture. The only thing I dislike about the Koreans are their false sense superiority over others.

@Nishnat Biswas

what you said is 100% True..

We Indians can deal with almost any culture in the world.

I am just not telling this because i am an Indian but you can find many of the Indians settled in foreign countries can deal better than other relocated foreigners.

It doesn't matters if you are dealing with a Korean woman or a Japanese; It just matters with your sense of culture of the lady you are dealing with..

When I first saw the title and clicked, I thought "who could pretend to know this?" and then, after reading BlueMystery, thought "haha.. of course!!"

Disagree with you on one point though.. Korea IS NOT better off by being such a coffee drinking country ;-)

Thanx for bringing the message to the masses.
